The dawn beckons -fresh and peaceful
- A cold John, a splash of water,
A cup of coffee-
"It's a beautiful day in Wisconsin!"
The screen door slams behind him.
Lungs suck in sweet, cool air.
Butch greets him with wagging tail.
Birds toll a new dawn.
The land looms large and expansive.
The walk to the barn is clean and pure.
Tractors are silent.
Awake and co-existing with nature,
There is unspoken camaraderie -
A knowing smile-
Among their fraternity.
At times a lingering sadness haunts the man.
He wonders: "What is technological obsolescence?
Is living only the climb to the top
Or is the process the Life-blood itself?"
He goes about his task unassuming
Needs no converts,
but silently caring.
