Using WordPad

Windows comes bundled with a basic text editing program called "WordPad." It's a scaled-down version of MS Word.

There are basically 3 steps to creating a document.

  1. Open
  2. Type
  3. Save

1. Open WordPad

To open WordPad, click Start > Programs > Accessories > WordPad.  You should see a window similar to below.

2. Type in some text

Click once inside the white area and then type in the following words:

With WordPad, you can create and edit simple text documents or documents with complex formatting and graphics.

Your window should look something like below.

3. Save

When you have edited the document to your satisfaction, save it.

To save to a file

  1. Once you have added clips to your project, click File > Save.
  2. From the Setting list, click the Save as type: you want.
  3. In File name:, type a name for your document, then click Save. The file is usually saved to the default location, My Documents folder, unless you specify elsewhere.

See the help drop-down menu for more information.
