As you are registering students and completing PEPs with them, please remember to keep track of students who intend to transition to higher education opportunities within a year on the data collection form.
New on this semester’s form: use the student ID number rather than the social security number for each student.
Also, Truax instructors do not need to complete the data collection form. At Truax, we are only tracking students in structured ALD classes who have no program code, and we can obtain that information from class rosters.
The data you have reported has been extremely useful in spotlighting our division’s efforts in relation to Vanguard. From Spring 97/98 through Spring 01/02, you have identified 1944 students as intending to transition. Outcomes for 1350 of those students (we begin tracking outcomes after one year of being listed) show 41.8% have transferred to at least one degree-credit course at MATC, and 81.9% of those who transferred completed the semester, taking an average of 6.8 credits and achieving an average gpa of 2.7.
Data collection forms for the semester are due to Lynn Shafel by the end of close out. You can send the form to Lynn via snail mail, interdepartmental mail, or just give the form to Sarah Teniente, Jose Luna, or Lynn Shafel at close out.
