The OCDI Report… 
(Please correct me or add to my report, which will surely exclude some important items.)

In the spring of 2000, I was fortunate to participate in OCDI (Online Course Development Institute) at MATC. Here is a very brief summary.

As I understand it, OCDI must have begun with an idea from Tom Doyle. The group was lead by Tom Doyle, Sandy Philip, Dennis James, Nancy Schley, and others at times. The behind the scenes preparation and logistics must have been facilitated/orchestrated by Lew Terpstra, Dr. Simone, et al. who made possible a fruitful experience for 15 or so teaching staff at MATC. There were 15 meetings.

• Meetings/workshops
• Leadership Online presentations 
• Textbook: Designing and Teaching an On-line Course, Heidi Schweizer 1999 (ISBN 0-205-30321-8).

ISSUES: 

• On-line class size 
• On-line registration
• Proctoring tests
• Intradepartmental Interface (Viz., DoITS/Faculty/Admin) 
• More... (to be added)
