Email Use and Setup

  • GroupWise Client for home use. Installation CD can be checked out from DoITS.
  • Eudora Pro 4.2* and MS Outlook can be set up to read and manage email from the GW server. For example, to set up Outlook Express, go to:
    • Tools > Accounts > Add > Mail.
    • Enter your MATC email address.
    • Use madison.tec.wi.us for Incoming server.
    • Use madison.tec.wi.us or your ISP mail (for Outgoing server)
    • You'll get all of your MATC mail the first time you use Outlook or Eudora, so if you have a lot of mail stored on there, it might be best to delete or archive most of it first.
  • Use plain text email. Until there is some agreed upon standard for rendering rich text (HTML) email, there is no guarantee that what you send will be readable. Also, smaller handheld PCs and email appliances will likely work best displaying plain old text. (At least for now.)
