Divide Decimals

Decimal division is similar to whole number division except that we need to keep track of the decimal place's location.

To divide decimals:

  1. Move the point in the divisor to the right end. (If there isn't a decimal point, put a point at the end of the divisor.)
  2. Move the point in the dividend the same number of places. Write zeros as place holders if necessary.
  3. Divide the divisor into the dividend.
  4. Copy the decimal point location into the quotient.
