Angle Relationships

Objective: Compute angle complements and supplements (A2b).

Two angles are complementary if their measures add up to 90º.

Examples:

(1.) Two 45º angles are complementary since their measures sum to 90º.

complementary angles

(2.) Angle S, with measure, mS = 80º, is complementary with T if m T = 10º.

Two angles are supplementary if their measures sum to 180º.

Examples:

(1.) Two right angles are supplementary since their measures add up to 180º. 90º + 90º = 180º (a straight line)
(2.) Angle S, with measure, mS = 135º, is supplementary with T if mT = 45º. supplementary angles
