ALD Family Literacy
- The goal of ALD's Family Literacy Initiatives is to assist
students who are parents or care givers in obtaining skills necessary to
become full partners in the educational development of their
children and is an essential component of the basic skills
program.
The following are some of our family literacy
initiatives. Activities are provided in
individual, small or large groups; through seminars or targeted workshops;
via technology including computerized activities, videos, or Internet; and
in many other ways.
-
Discussing and studying parenting skills/educational topics
-
Offering parent - child activities
-
Reading books in class and then taking them home to read to children
-
Distributing books to families to keep
-
Establishing/maintaining a family educational resource library
-

-

-
