Roofing Applications in Trigonometry

Fourteenth Annual WisMATYC Fall Conference
Fox Valley Technical College
Saturday, September29, 2007

Technical Math II (https://matcmadison.edu/matc/ASP/showoutline.asp?CourseNum=10-804-116) is the second semester of a two semester applied math sequence taken by students in the Architectural Technician, Mechanical Design and Civil Engineering programs at MATC. A major focus of the course is trigonometry. The following resources were developed by Kevin Mirus for use in this course.

Kevin's Original Files
All Kevin's material (course syllabus, lecture notes for body diagonals, roof valleys, hip roofs, compound angle holes, and an introduction to trigonometric identities, both roof truss labs, and the solutions to both labs) are online in a single zipped file.  You can get to the file by going to

or by going straight to http://faculty.matcmadison.edu/kmirus/Reference/WisMATYC2007FallConference.zip.
